Lament of the front yard blanket

Sometimes I miss the age where we can take small toys outside and sit on a blanket under a tree and play and read books for hours.

When they grow, so does their need for space and adventure. The blanket isn't enough. They want to run, or they want to know what activity we're doing. Everything needs to be bigger.

While I'm glad the toddler and preschool age is done in regards to fighting over naps, potty training, and those crazy meltdowns, I'm also lamenting that sweetness and wonderment that came with the front yard blanket playtime.
